Current forms

NewzWarz uses private Netlify forms for the Dispatch list, source recommendations, unsubscribe requests, vault submissions, and vault reviews. A form submission is not automatically published.

Dispatch signup data

The signup form collects an email address, optional first name, selected interests, preferred frequency, consent, the page path, the referring site's origin when available, campaign parameters in the signup URL, and a submission timestamp. These fields are used to manage the list and understand which signup path produced the submission.

Source recommendation data

The recommendation form collects the submitted public URL, optional source name, suggested content type, the reason for the recommendation, relationship disclosure, optional contact email, required acknowledgements, and limited page and campaign metadata. Recommendations enter a private review queue. They are not added to the public directory automatically.

Community account data

A registered account may process an email address and authentication records through the configured identity service. NewzWarz's community database is designed to store a user identifier, username, display name, optional biography and interests, join date, privacy settings, member roles, Signal Points transactions, badges, saved or followed sources, 1-to-5 star ratings, structured source votes, submitted source reviews, reports, notification preferences, account deletion requests, and moderation or security records when applicable.

Public profile fields are controlled separately. A member may choose whether their profile appears publicly and whether public contributions or saved sources appear on that profile. Email addresses, authentication metadata, private moderation notes, and private submission history are not designed as public profile fields.

Avatars

When custom avatars are activated, NewzWarz is designed to accept JPEG, PNG, or WebP images only, with server-side file and dimension limits. Uploaded avatars are stored separately from public profile records. The site may remove an avatar for safety, abuse, intellectual-property, or policy reasons.

Ratings, Signal Points, and activity

Source star ratings, structured votes, and Signal Points are community participation records. A star rating answers how useful a source is to a member; it is not a truth score. Public summaries are aggregate signals, not factual verification. The system may record limited activity events such as saves, follows, shares, votes, and accepted contributions to operate community features, apply abuse controls, and calculate aggregate NewzWarz activity. NewzWarz should not publish a member's private activity merely because it was recorded.

Push subscriptions

Browser push is opt-in. When enabled, the system may store a browser push endpoint and the technical subscription keys required to deliver notifications, together with the member account that enabled them. Notification delivery may remain unavailable until NewzWarz configures and activates its sending keys.

Retention

NewzWarz applies the following operating retention targets to forms and uses separate production controls for account, moderation, security, and analytics records. Raw first-party analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days. Current form targets are:

  • Dispatch signups: until withdrawal or 24 months without meaningful list activity, whichever comes first.
  • Source recommendations: up to 180 days after submission.
  • Unreviewed vault submissions: up to 90 days.
  • Rejected vault submissions: up to 30 days after the decision, unless a documented legal, safety, or abuse-prevention reason requires a limited hold.
  • Approved public records: while published; limited removal metadata may be retained to preserve an audit trail.
  • Unsubscribe requests: retained as suppression records while NewzWarz sends email.
  • Test submissions: deleted after acceptance testing.

Account deletion

NewzWarz includes an authenticated deletion-request workflow. Deletion does not automatically mean every record disappears immediately: limited fraud-prevention, security, legal, or moderation-integrity records may require a defined retention period.

Netlify form storage

Form submissions are handled through the site's Netlify project and appear in its private Forms dashboard. NewzWarz reviews and deletes those records according to its operating process.

Browser storage

The random router may store the identifiers of the last source and last destination in local storage to reduce immediate repetition. Those identifiers do not contain your name, email address, or the content you read after leaving NewzWarz.

For first-party analytics, NewzWarz creates a random session identifier in session storage. It is scoped to the browser session rather than used as a persistent cross-site tracking cookie.

First-party analytics and hosting logs

NewzWarz records limited first-party analytics events such as page views, source-link opens, Random Deploy use, signup submission and confirmation, ratings, structured signals, reviews, saves, follows, and shares. The analytics event table stores the event type, page path, random session identifier, and—when relevant—a source identifier, Random Deploy mode, or referring host. It is not designed to store an account email address, username, review text, IP address, or browser user-agent string. Raw analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days.

The hosting provider and ordinary internet infrastructure may separately process routine technical information such as IP address, request time, browser information, requested path, referral source, approximate location, and bandwidth use for hosting, security, and operational observability. NewzWarz does not intentionally add a behavioral advertising profile or cross-site advertising pixel in this build.

External sites

When you follow a source link, that destination's privacy, cookies, accounts, advertising, and data practices apply. NewzWarz does not control them.

Your controls

Use the unsubscribe form to request removal from NewzWarz email. Account settings control available public-profile visibility, public contributions, saved-source visibility, notifications, avatars, and deletion requests. Do not use any form to submit passwords, financial data, government identifiers, or another person's private information.

Vault submissions

File intake is not perfect anonymity.

The anonymous drop does not require a name or email. Uploaded files, filenames, form fields, and optional contact information are stored privately until reviewed or deleted. A file never becomes a public vault record merely because it was uploaded, voted on, or submitted by a high-reputation member.
